it’s our motto. Since 1987, we have had the foresight to redefine melon shipping around the world.
With our customers in mind, we have reshaped our business model in order to bring the best eating experience possible
to each and every consumer.
Milas Russell, Jr.. President of Sandstone, started farming at the age of 14. “I have been lucky, ”
says Milas, continuing, “I knew exactly what I wanted do in life from a young age. ” This passion for farming
turned to melons in 1979 and soon after Milas and wife Diana decided to start a melon company with an emphasis on quality.
This was the birth of Sandstone Marketing.
In 1993, Sandstone was incorporated and Jim Abbate of Pacific Sales partnered in the bustling company. Jim hails from a
legendary melon family with three generations directly involved in production, harvesting and shipping.
Through the years, Sandstone has been committed to bettering ourselves as producers. This commitment came into fruition when we
devoted our growing practices to niche markets and the newly emerging fresh-cut industry. Sandstone is the only melon producer
in the world, which has designed their growing, harvesting and shipping practices to facilitate the fresh cut business and those
customers who demand flavorful product.
